ZAHRA KHORAMI

NARRATIVE-STAGED PHOTOGRAPHY

ABOUT

                     BIOGRAPHy

Zahra Khorami was born in Tehran, Iran (1986). After completing theoretical and practical photography (private) courses in basic and professional stages (2007), she finished her master studies in Western Philosophy with her thesis on “relation of art and truth in Adorno’s philosophy” (2012).

In 2011, she collaborated with monthly-Hamshahri magazine as a photojournalist, before she went to Germany in 2012 where she took her shots as freelancer photographer; and after one year she moved to the Netherlands.

In her photo series she mostly targets the social issues women are faced with in some countries or worldwide. In order to increase the influence, since 2009 she used Narrative-Staged style for her photography projects. Each photo in her photo series, while keeping its independence, is like a page of a story book. Her passion in picturing the neglected (philosophical) perspective in the issue of target, empowered by researching the causes resulted in well-receiving of her narrative-staged photo.

Next to her artistic projects, as a freelancer photographer, since early 2016 she is active in commercial photo shooting for different brands (e.g. Calvin Klein, Levis, etc.) and for various clients Packshot, Fashot, de Bijenkorf, etc.

In addition to holding several international solo photo exhibitions and participating in group photo exhibitions, she curated “Proxy” series exhibitions, starting from Düsseldorf, Germany (2018).
